Five offers for Kirchner, one leader

Rockbridge County (VA) defensive end Jon Kirchner has his fifth offer, and this one comes from what was, at one point, his favorite. Have things changed?

"Virginia Tech offered me, so that makes them, Virginia, Maryland, Stanford, and West Virginia as the teams that have offered," says the 6-foot-5, 260 pounder. "I still have to visit Stanford June 20, but I am thinking about committing in July."

Out of a desire to focus on his football season, Kirchner has stated early on he wanted to commit early. However, he also once stated that Virginia Tech had a substantial lead as well.

"Right now, I am thinking Virginia has a lead over Tech. I got a good feeling while I was visiting Virginia for their spring practices, and they have a great atmosphere."

No matter the team, they will have a great defensive end or defensive tackle, whichever Kirchner chooses. He could end up as a strong-side defensive end with his ability to keep blockers off of him.

"I would say that pass-rushing is my strength. I like to rush the pass because I do not like the offensive line to get too close to me."

The question now is how close he will let the schools get to him before Kirchner commits soon.
