New Commitment for Maryland

The first offer was the best offer for Enfield (CT) defensive tackle Jack Griffin, who adds yet another commitment for Maryland.

"I just got offered by them, and decided it was the best place for me," says the 6-foot-7, 255 pounder. "I had some other schools interested in me like Iowa, Boston College, Virginia, Penn State, and a few other schools sending me mail, but Maryland was the first to offer."

Essentially, it was his performance in camps and solid work in the classroom that will move Griffin to College Park, Maryland next season.

"I went down to their camp and they really liked the way I played, and they liked my academics."

Griffin has a 1210 SAT score, and he says that he is not looking to venture elsewhere with his commitment.

"It is pretty solid. There is no question in my mind that I will be playing at Maryland."

The commitment is the 8th known pledge for the Maryland class of 2004.
