5 Star DE names top five

Eleanor Roosevelt (MD) defensive end Derrick Harvey is fresh off of his two camps of the summer, and is excited about his prospects with those two schools and teams.

"I just camped with Maryland and Virginia," says the 6-foot-5, 225 pounder ranked as the number two defensive end in the nation and a five star player overall by TheInsiders.com. "I was able to sit down with the coaches at both schools and talk. We talked about their depth chart and playing time, and I really like their coaches."

While both schools say they have ample playing time, their recruiting philosophy is a bit different for Harvey.

"They both say I can play early, but Virginia wants me to play outside linebacker. I prefer to play defensive end, but I did play a little linebacker in our passing leagues this summer which was not that bad."

The passing league, in which Harvey's team finished with a 4-1 record, now over, Harvey has four schools at the top of his list.

"My leaders are USC, which just offered the other day, Arizona State, Miami, and Florida. Those four are all talking early playing time also. Maryland and Virginia are right behind them."

Harvey is taking his time with recruiting, and would like to take his official visits late in the process before committing to any school.
