Hometown: Cranberry Township, Pa.
Height & Weight: 6-foot-3, 205 pounds
Projected Position on Depth Chart: Starting quarterback
The rundown: Brown played in 10 games and started five during last season's quarterback carousel with head coach Randy Edsall switching between 2011 ACC Rookie of the Year Danny O'Brien and Brown until O'Brien suffered a broken arm. He completed 49.4 percent of his passes for 842 yards and seven touchdowns while scrambling for 647 yards and a team high five touchdowns. His best game was his first true game as a starter against the Clemson Tigers where he threw for 177 yards, three touchdowns and one interception while rushing for 187 yards and another touchdown.
Expectations for 2012: With O'Brien transferring to Wisconsin, Brown will have full control of the reins of the Maryland offense. Brown should still be a threat in the ground game but his passing still needs a lot of work. With an improved offensive line and a receiving corp, Brown will have more help than he did last season. And without the inconsistency at the quarterback position for the foreseeable future, this offense can become familiar with Brown's style of play. With only two other freshman in Perry Hills and Caleb Rowe on the depth chart, this is Brown's job to lose.
