Meeting the Terps Offense: #6 Wes Brown

College Park, MD. - TSR gets you acclimated with the 2012 Terps, first looking at the offense.

Player: Wes Brown

Hometown: Olney, Md.

Class: Freshman

Height & Weight: 6-foot-1, 210 pounds

Projected Position on Depth Chart: Backup running back

The rundown: A four-star recruit and the 11th-ranked running back on, Wes Brown was a part of Maryland's 2012 class from Our Lady of Good Counsel along with offensive lineman Mike Madaras and wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Brown was hampered with injuries but was still a productive offensive weapon, putting together a four touchdown and 226-yard rushing effort to help bring his team to the WCAC title game. He has good size and speed for a running back, adding on about 20 pounds, according to the Terrapins. He also has great vision in finding holes to run through.

Expectations for 2012: While Pickett and Ross are expected to battle for the starting running back spot, Brown should also make an impact for the Terps next season. He should overtake Kwabena Ofori on the depth chart and see a good share of snaps, especially on third down run situations. Brown still needs to work on his blocking, but his vision and strength makes him a dangerous weapon in the Terps' arsenal. Brown has the speed to get around to the outside and has the strength to overpower defensive backs on the outside and in the secondary. With high school teammate Madaras expected to compete for a starting spot on the offensive line, Brown will have some familiarity in the run game which may help him make a case for more playing time.
