Meeting the Terps Offense: #11 Sal Conaboy

College Park, MD. - TSR gets you acclimated with the 2012 Terps, first looking at the offense.

Player: Sal Conaboy

Hometown: Dacula, Ga.

Class: Sophomore

Height & Weight: 6-foot-4, 285 pounds

Projected Position on Depth Chart: Starting center

The rundown: Conaboy saw action in five games last season and took over the starting center position after then-starting center Bennett Fulper went down with an injury against Notre Dame. Conaboy started the last two games of the season against Wake Forest and N.C. State and also saw action as a reserve center in the season opener against Miami. He also played against Towson, helping former running back Davin Meggett rush for 102 yards out of a team total of 198 rushing yards while protecting Maryland's quarterback from taking a sack.

Expectations for 2012: Conaboy is penciled in as the starting center for 2012 after the Maryland coaching staff moved former starter Fulper to the left guard position. With only two redshirt freshmen in Evan Mulrooney and Stephen Grommer listed behind him on the preseason depth chart, Conaboy will most likely start the entire season barring any injury to him or a drastic drop in play. If Conaboy struggles, Fulper may return to the center position, but as of now, this is Conaboy's job to lose. He can also play the guard position, so if he and Fulper could trade positions if necessary.
