Meeting the Terps Offense: #12 Malcolm Culmer

College Park, MD. - TSR gets you acclimated with the 2012 Terps, first looking at the offense.

Player: Malcolm Culmer

Hometown: Jersey City, N.J.

Class: Freshman

Height & Weight: 6-foot-0, 180 pounds

Projected Position on Depth Chart: Backup wide receiver

The rundown: A freshman receiver that committed to the Terps last year, Culmer also fielded offers from Illinois and UMass but chose to go south to Maryland. In high school, he played receiver and cornerback and also lettered in basketball and track. In his senior year, Culmer had 537 rushing yards, 684 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns while also picking off three passes. Culmer is a quick receiver who can stretch the field and be a deep target for C.J. Brown, if he can get the ball to him.

Expectations for 2012: The Terps are crowded at the wide receiver position and it looks like Culmer may sit out his first season. There's little reason to believe that he will be able to any playing time on offense and may even find it tough to get on special teams. Culmer is talented, but on a roster with young talent like Diggs, King, Leak and Cheeseboro along with the more experienced veterans, Culmer will have to wait for his time at receiver.
