Hometown: Olney, Md.
Height & Weight: 6-foot-0, 185 pounds
Projected Position on Depth Chart: Backup wide receiver
The rundown: Diggs is one of the most highly regarded recruits that Maryland has ever gotten. A five-star recruit from Our Lady of Good Counsel, the wide receiver was ranked second overall by Scout.com. Diggs can line up from anywhere on the field and has great vision and speed. Once the ball is in his hands, Diggs also has great control of his body and can be hard to bring down. His route running needs work, but he can make great cuts and will be a huge headache for opposing defenses. Diggs also has experience playing as a running back and may be used in the run game at some times.
Expectations for 2012: The Terps may have many receivers and Diggs may not start in the season opener against William & Mary, but it would not be unlikely for Diggs to be in the starting lineup halfway through the season. In the preseason, Edsall has Diggs listed fourth behind veteran Kerry Boykins, Levern Jacobs and James Bowman, but he will at the very least jump over Bowman and Jacobs by the beginning of the regular season, and could make the leap over Boykins later in the season. A receiver this talented and highly regarded only comes to Maryland once in a blue moon, so the Terps will look to implement him into their offense as quickly as possible.
