Meeting the Terps Offense: #21 Kenny Goins

College Park, MD. - TSR gets you acclimated with the 2012 Terps, first looking at the offense.

Player: Kenny Goins

Hometown: Baltimore, Md.

Class: Freshman

Height & Weight: 5-foot-10, 220 pounds

Projected Position on Depth Chart: Backup fullback

The rundown: Goins is a three-star recruit out of the Gilman School and already has the size and strength ready to play at the college level. Goins was recruited to play running back and is listed as a fullback on the depth chart. He excelled at the running back and linebacker positions in high school and can carry the ball, catch passes and block. As a senior, he had 290 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns and also recorded 15 sacks and 61 tackles on defense.

Expectations for 2012: Tyler Cierski has a firm grasp on the starting fullback position and senior Jeff Hernandez is fairly certain to be the first backup next year. Goins may end up redshirting the season barring any injury to either Cierski or Hernandez, but he will see more action after Hernandez moves on. He can be a threat in short-yardage situations but will most likely need to wait a year before the Terps will use him.
