Meet the Terps Offense: #22 Stephen Grommer

College Park, MD. - TSR gets you acclimated with the 2012 Terps, first looking at the offense.

Player: Stephen Grommer

Hometown: Spartanburg, S.C.

Class: Redshirt Freshman

Height & Weight: 6-foot-5, 290 pounds

Projected Position on Depth Chart: Backup center

The rundown: Grommer is an athletic offensive lineman with a lot of power. He was evaluated as a tackle and a guard during his recruitment and was listed at left guard for the Terps during the spring, though it looks like the Terps are considering him as a center this off-season. In his senior year, Grommer was an all-state selection and also lettered in track and field throwing discus and shot put.

Expectations for 2012: Grommer will be a reserve offensive lineman and it is doubtful that he'll see much time at center. With either Conaboy or Fulper getting the job there, Grommer will have to wait under Evan Mulrooney, who is listed above him in the preseason depth chart. Grommer may see some action elsewhere on the offensive line and has the versatility to play different positions, but his role on the Terps will most likely be a small one this upcoming season.
