Meet the Terps Offense: #31 Kwabena Ofori

College Park, MD. - TSR gets you acclimated with the 2012 Terps, first looking at the offense.

Player: Kwabena Ofori

Hometown: Silver Spring, Md.

Class: Senior

Height & Weight: 5-foot-9, 192 pounds

Projected Position on Depth Chart: Backup running back

The rundown: Ofori enrolled at Maryland in 2008 but did not join the team until 2010. Since joining the team, Ofori has held the role of a reserve running back and has not seen the field in his collegiate career. Ofori was a starter at strong safety and linebacker at John F. Kennedy and finished with 60 tackles, 13 sacks and four forced fumbles in his senior season. He is joined on the Terps with two of his high school teammates and friends, fullback Jeff Hernandez and strong safety Clarence Claiborne.

Expectations for 2012: Ofori will most likely finish his college football career in a reserve role. With Justus Pickett, Brandon Ross and Wes Brown expected to compete for the starting tailback position, Ofori is once again the odd man out and will watch most of the season from the sidelines. He will most likely see action on the scout team and, if lucky, may get a few carries in garbage time, though those carries may be given to a younger back for development. Ofori is the only senior at a position where sophomore Pickett is the second oldest and it looks as though the Terps will go with the youngsters at the position next season.
