Meet the Terps Offense: #39 Pete White

College Park, MD. - TSR gets you acclimated with the 2012 Terps, first looking at the offense.

Player: Pete White

Hometown: Upper Marlboro, Md.

Class: Junior

Height & Weight: 6-foot-4, 320 pounds

Projected Position on Depth Chart: Backup guard

The rundown: As a sophomore last season, White played in all 12 games, starting six of them at left guard. He also saw action at right guard and played on special teams as well. White started his first game at left guard against Clemson after Andrew Gonnella suffered a season-ending injury and helped the Terps rush for a season-high 291 yards in that game. White was part of the offensive line that helped the Terps ranked third in the ACC in rushing with 169.3 yards per game and fourth in fewest sacks allowed with 1.4 sacks allowed per game. White is a versatile player and has a large body that can block on the interior of the line.

Expectations for 2012: Bennett Fulper, the former center, is getting the start at left guard as of now, but White can easily fit into the starting role if Fulper is hurt of moved back to center. White's experience as a starter last season will help him this year whether he plays as a backup or starts. White is a physical presence and a solid blocker and may see some action on special teams again, but his primary role this season should be on the offensive line.
