Hometown: Sparta, N.J.
Height & Weight: 6-foot-3, 245 pounds
Projected Position on Depth Chart: Backup linebacker
The rundown: Farrand is a second-year linebacker who saw playing time mostly on special teams last year. Last season, Farrand played in the last nine games of the season on special teams and as a reserve linebacker and finished with three tackles. He bulked up about 15 pounds during the offseason and will see a much bigger role in 2012.
Expectations for 2012: Farrand could potentially go from a reserve linebacker and primary special teamer to the starting Mike linebacker next season, but will have to beat out L.A. Goree for the spot. Farrand took a step forward this offseason by putting on weight, but it will be hard for him to pass Goree who has much more experience as a starter on defense. Regardless of whether Farrand starts or not, he will see an increased role on defense and may continue to be a contributor on special teams.
