Projected Position on Depth Chart: Backup cornerback
The rundown: Hill is a freshman who will look to make contributions this season on special teams and at a very thin cornerback position. Hill is considered a defensive back who will go for the big play. In his senior season last year, Hill was a second team all-state choice and finished with 45 tackles, one sack, 11 pass breakups and four interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. On special teams, Hill had two special teams touchdowns off a punt and a kickoff. His older brother Detrick Bonner plays cornerback for Virginia Tech.
Expectations for 2012: The injuries to the secondary leaves an already thin position even more lacking in depth. With cornerbacks Isaac Goins and A.J. Hendy out for the first few weeks with injuries, Hill is listed as the backup cornerback behind Jeremiah Johnson. Regardless of whether he sees considerable action on defense, Hill will be a contributor on special teams. He will not be returning balls as Stefon Diggs has a hold on of the return man position, but he will serve as a defender and a blocker for the Terps on special times.
