2014 DE gives the latest

Olney (Md.) Our Lady of Good Counsel is one of the better programs in the country in churning out elite talent, and one of their top prospects in the 2014 class maybe defensive end Jesse Aniebonam.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound junior recently collected offers from SEC powerhouses Alabama and Auburn. Now, Jesse Aniebonam is focused on taking his visits and narrowing his list of schools down.

"Right now, I am trying to get my list down to my top eight," Aniebonam said. "I am really focused on getting my visits in and meeting with the all the coaching staffs. "

Taking his visits and getting to know each coaching staff are two main factors that will go into the decision making process.

"When I make my decision it will be based on my general feel of the school and how I feel I will fit in the program," Aniebonam said. "How I feel towards the coaches, especially my position coach, will be really important and it is one of the main things I am looking for."

Although Aniebonam is planning to make most of his visits sometime between early and mid-spring, he has already been out to Notre Dame and Maryland.

"I enjoyed my visit out to Maryland, I got to see a game, I got a tour of the campus, " Aniebonam said. "I know most of the coaching staff over there pretty well, so overall I thought it was a good visit"

Having former teammates, Stephon Diggs, Mike Madaras, and Wes Brown, already at Maryland has helped Aniebonam gain insight into the program.

"I've had countless talks with Stephon, Mike, Wes, about how they got adjusted to the school once they were there," said Aniebonam. "They said its really about work ethic and how high you want to set your standards, proving to the coaching staff that you are willing to work hard and performing on the field."

Aside from Maryland, Aniebonam has offers from schools such as Florida, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, South Carolina, Auburn, Alabama and more. Early on, Aniebonam hoped to make a decision early this summer, but with new offers coming in, he has pushed back his timeline for making a decision.

"After all the buzz lately, I am thinking of pushing it back a little bit and making my decision later," said Aniebonam

In the meantime, Aniebonam will be working hard in the weight room and is focused on preparing for next season.

"Right now I am just continuing to focus on explosion and speed," Aniebonam said. "When I go to my trainer, I'm working on footwork, metabolics, and core type exercises to help me get that extra explosion coming off the edge."
