Four-star cornerbacks Jalen Tabor and D'Andre Payne D'Andre Payne and four-star defensive end Jesse Aniebonam-- all national level recruits – will be on the same field Friday for the second annual 5UP football showcase.

The event, which will be in White Marsh, Md., will feature some of the top talent in the Maryland/D.C. region, and is a take-off on the popular 7-on-7 events. However, a 5-up event is more concentrated in its scope.

The passing competition uses a quarterback, a running back and receivers, as well as an offensive lineman blocking a defensive lineman, who is trying to get to the quarterback.

"5UP is basically best aspects of 1-on-1's, 7-on-7's and game situations combined into one event," said Good Counsel assistant coach and event coordinator Will Flaherty. "Linemen have an opportunity to get involved, it provides a game-like environment for quarterbacks, and wide receivers are running realistic routes, and allows defensive backs to work on their coverage skills."

Tabor and Payne, who play at Friendship Collegiate (Washington, D.C.), will be joined by Our Lady of Good Counsel (Olney, Md.) safety Kobie Walker, Aniebonam and three-star and Calvert Hall (Baltimore) quarterback Colar Kuhns to headline the event.

"5UP is not just about the big name players though," said Flaherty. "The event gives players a chance to go against talented players multiple times, so they have a chance to prove themselves. It is not just one-and-done like most combines."

The event starts at 9 a.m. and the FreeState will be held at 5811 Allender Road in White Marsh, Md. Registration starts at the FreeState Sports Arena. TurtleSportsReport.com will be have exclusive coverage of the event and will feature some of the Terrapin's top targets in the days leading up to the event.
