No Days Off for Winfree

While most kids spend their spring break playing video games or sleeping in, some of the top football prospects from New Jersey to Virginia traveled to the 5Up Showcase in the White Marsh, Md. One of those prospects was Dwight Morrow (Englewood, N.J.) athlete Juwann Winfree, who has over two dozen offers.

Dwight Morrow (Englewood, N.J.) junior Juwann Winfree has seen his recruitment pick up in the past couple of weeks and he saw his offer list grow to 15 last week when he picked up an offer from N.C. State.

Winfree does not have any leaders, but says he is hearing the most from from assistant coach Dave Cohen from Rutgers and coach Keith Dudzinski from Maryland.

"Coach Dudzinski is saying they are looking forward to seeing me down there," said 6-foot-2, 180-pound Winfree. "They are excited about my improvements and think I would be a good fit for the offense they run. Basically, they like me."

Winfree, who attended Maryland's game against Georgia Tech last fall, left with a good impression and plans to return for the Terps' spring game on April 12.

"I really like Maryland," said Winfree. "I like the offense, the school of education and of course, my favorite player is Stephon Diggs so it was cool being able to watch him play."

Winfree plays both defensive back and wide receiver, but he said Maryland is looking him as a receiver.

"I am excited they want me as a receiver," said Winfree. "I am more of a spread-type receiver, not a possession receiver. I need the ball in my hands in space and that is the type of offense they run at Maryland."

Winfree said he has a great relationship with the Maryland coaching staff, especially Coach Dudzinski.

"The coaching staff is great," said Winfree. "They speak to me a lot, especially coach Dudzinski."

Winfree said education, location and playing time will all be deciding factors.

"First off I am looking at education, the school has to have my major," said Winfree, who wants to pursue a sports management major. "Second factor is how I will fit in on the team and if I am going to get playing time early and then third is location because I am not trying to go too far away."
