East Region Notes

A look at the latest new in the East Region as it relates to the Terps...

Four-star safety Marcus Allen Dr. Henry A. Wise High (Upper Marlboro, Md.), who also had Maryland high on his list and has ties to several current Terps, committed to the Nittany Lions last Friday. (Also to note, PSU picked up a second commit that day De La Salle Collegiate (Warren, Mich.) linebacker Jared Wangler.

Now, the Nittany Lions are targeting another Maryland prospect and local product, Troy Vincent Jr. In Vincent's last interview with TSR, he was very high on the Terps but with PSU making a push it seems as though he is leaning towards PSU. He is expected to make a decision soon.

Maryland went to Massachusetts for its third commitment of the 2014 class when running back Johnathan Thomas of St. Johns Prep (Danvers, Mass.) chose the Terps over offers such as Arkansas and Boston College.

Thomas joins St. Johns College (Washington, D.C.) quarterback William Ulmer and McDonogh School (Owings Mills, Md.) offensive tackle Jared Cohen in the class.

Gateway High (Monroeville, Pa.) Scout 300 safety Montae Nicholson, who holds an offer from Maryland, planned to trim his extensive offer by the end of May, but he said commitment to track and the number of schools showing him interest are delaying his decision to trim his list.

Virginia Tech offered, Council Rock High South (Holland, Pa.) guards Eric Gallo. Gallo is the brother of Maryland tight end P.J. Gallo.

Millville (N.J.) High defensive lineman Antoine White, who had high praise for the Terps after his visit in March, picked up offers from Michigan State and North Carolina.

Coatesville (Pa.) High middle linebacker Tyler Burke, who likes the Terps and has hit campus several times, added to his offer list by picking up Georgia Tech. He recently added a Connecticut offer and is trying to schedule visits to Wisconsin and Stanford.

Class of 2015 Quince Orchard High (North Potomac, Md.) defensive end Adam McLean, who has been receiving interest from Maryland, added an offer from Rutgers and North Carolina State to go with offers from Florida State, Nebraska and Virginia Tech.

Calvert Hall (Baltimore) 2016 outside linebacker Rahshaun Smith, who holds an offer from the Terps, was offered by Arkansas. He also has offers from Boston College, Connecticut, Penn State, Rutgers and Tennessee.
