East Region Notes

A look at the latest new in the East Region as it relates to the Terps...

The Bullis School (Potomac, Md.) offensive tackle Justin Herron, who had been getting some interest from the Terps and recently picked up offers from Boston College and Connecticut, verbally committed to Rutgers on Thursday.

Our Lady of Good Counsel (Olney, Md.) safety Kobie Walker committed to Kentucky. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Walker had the Terps on his radar early on in the process but had not been in touch with Maryland for quite some time. Walker was recruited to play outside linebacker for the Wildcats.

The Terps make the cut for a big time local prospect Scout 300 cornerback Jalen Tabor. Tabor released a list of eight schools he is considering. Making the list were Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Alabama, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio State and Vanderbilt. TSR spoke with Tabor about the Terps during an interview last week and he visited campus for Maryland's spring game on April 12.

Before locking in St. John's Prep (Danvers, Mass.) running back Johnathan Thomas, Maryland offered Harrisburgh (Pa.) High running back Robert Martin, who added an offer from Pittsburgh this week.

Montclair (N.J.) High defensive end/tight end Austin Stevens, who is hearing from Maryland and said he might be considering heading to camp, picked up an offer from Buffalo.

Another prospect in New Jersey who has interest from Maryland, Timber Creek High School, three-star wide receiver Adonis Jennings picked up an offer from Iowa.

Middletown (Md.) High defensive end Ricky Leonard, who is very high on the Terps, continued adding to his extensive list picking up an offer from Nebraska.

DeMatha Catholic High (Hyattsville, Md.) receiver Chris Jones, who holds an offer from Maryland, picked up offers Iowa and Duke.

Maryland recently made a trip to check out North Point High (Waldorf, Md.) tight end Marquise Watts and last week he added an offer from Temple. He also has offers from Duke and Toledo.
