First Depth Chart of the Season Released

Maryland opens its season up in just five days against Florida International. The Terps released their first depth chart of the season today and TurtleSportsReport.com breaks down all the changes you need to know.

Depth Chart Surprises/Changes: OFFENSE
Deon Long, who has been out for the last few weeks with a back injury, is listed as a starter on the latest depth chart. Since he is not only listed on the depth chart, but listed as a starter, it suggests that they plan on using his on Saturday. Backing up Long is red-shirt freshman Amba Etta who is also back after missing the final week of fall camp with an injury.

The five starting lineman are: Mike Madaras (LT), De'Onte Arnett (LG), Sal Conaboy (C), Michael Dunn (RG), Ryan Doyle (RT). No surprises there, that is the same list Edsall named at the final open practice of the season.

Heading into camp, Nick Klemm was listed as the starting right tackle, however Klemm was injured in a non-contact drill during the final week of the preseason and is no longer listed on the depth chart. Instead, Ryan Doyle is the starting right tackle (a job he most likely would have won over Klemm even without the injury).

With Doyle listed as the starter, it is red-shirt freshman Moise Larose now backing up Ryan Doyle on the right side.

Dave Stinebaugh is listed as the starting tight end, with P.J. Gallo as his back up. Brian McMahon, who has been injured most of the preseason is not listed on the depth chart, and neither freshman Andrew Isaacs nor the Terps newest tight end Derrick Hayward-the former outside linebacker- are listed on the depth chart.

Michael Dunn, the backup right tackle heading into camp, is now listed as the starting right guard with Andrew Zeller listed as his number two.

De'Onte Arnett is the starting left guard. Silvano Altamirano and Gary Harraka are listed as co-backups on the left side.

Mike Madaras remains the starter at left tackle, however the personnel behind him has changed quite a bit. With Ryan Doyle moving to the right side, and Jajuan Dulaney out for the year, it is former backup right tackle Jake Wheeler moving over to left side to back up Madaras.

Brandon Ross and Albert Reid are they only two running backs listed on the depth chart for Saturday's game against FIU. Ross and Reid are listed as co-starters as both Joe Riddle (concussion) and Jacquille Veii (ankle) are out with injuries.

Red-shirt freshman Kenny Goins is the new starting fullback as Tyler Cierski is still out with a calf injury. Goins got plenty of reps during the preseason and should be ready to step into the starting role. Behind Goins is Andrew Stefanelli, a former Good Counsel standout who red-shirted his freshman year at Temple before transferring to College Park.

No changes to the depth chart at the other two wide out spots.

Depth Chart Surprises/Changes: DEFENSE
A slight change behind Keith Bowers, as Alex Walker and Andre Monroe are listed as co-backups. Walker moved outside from the nose this preseason and Monroe was in and out during camp as he dealt with a toe injury (and was still trying to get in shape coming off a knee injury).

Cole Farrand and LA Goree are the starting inside linebackers. Shawn Petty is backing up Farrand, while Abner Logan is listed behind Goree.

Despite an extremely impressive performance during Maryland's scrimmage a few weeks ago, Yannick Cudjoe-Virgil will back up Marcus Whitfield at outside linebacker.

On the other side the starter is Matt Robinsion, who managed to stay injury-free, with Alex Twine listed as the number two.

No surprise that Dexter McDougle and Jeremiah Johnson will be the starting cornerbacks, however the back ups have shifted. True freshman Will Likely is listed behind Johnson after an impressive preseason, while Isaac Goins is now backing up McDougle.

As noted before, Sean Davis won the battle for the starting free safety spot leaving A.J. Hendy in the number two spot. Anthony Nixon is the starting strong safety, with Undray Clark jumping the injured Zach Dancel for the back up spot.

Depth Chart Surprises/Changes: SPECIAL TEAMS
Brad Craddock will be the starting place kicker, with freshman Adam Greene beating out Brendan Magistro for the back up spot.

Stefon Diggs is listed as the primary punt/kickoff return man, he will be backed up by true freshman Will Likely for both roles.
