Maryland quarterback C.J. Brown fired a deep pass to Nigel King down the right sideline on second-and-13. The pass missed, but Florida State nose guard Jacobii McDaniel didn't. He drilled Brown in the chest, while middle linebacker Christian Jones hit Brown from the backside.
Brown remained on the ground for several minutes after the play as trainers tended to him for several minutes. Head coach Randy Edsall was visibly frustrated with the officials, who did not throw a flag on the play.
The Maryland team stood on the field, around the 20 yard line watching anxiously as trainers helped Brown off the field and into the locker room. Sophomore Caleb Rowe stepped in under center for the injured Brown, completing two-of-three passes for 28 yards to close the half.
Brown completed six-of-14 passes for 82 yards before leaving the game.

**UPDATE: C.J. Brown will not return to game and is having X-rays on his shoulder.
