COLLEGE PARK, Md.--After Maryland's 27-26, win over Virginia on Saturday, October 12, Sophomore quarterback Caleb Rowe said, "Every time I get in I try to do what I can for my team."
Well Rowe certainly did all he could on Saturday, and all he had to do was point to the scoreboard to prove it. Filling in for C.J. Brown, who sat out with a concussion, Rowe went 18-of-34 for 332 yards and one very important touchdown.
With the Terps down by six, and 7:04 left in the game, Rowe completed a 21 yard pass to Stefon Diggs. However on the next play, Rowe mishandled an option toss to Brandon Ross, which resulted in a 12 yard loss. An incomplete pass to Levern Jacobs put Maryland in a third-and-twenty two situation, with its season seemingly teetering on the fate of the next snap.
On the ensuing play, Rowe dropped back and launched a 47-yard bomb to Deon Long, who reached above two Virginia defenders to haul in the pass. Two plays later, Rowe hit a diving Dave Stinebaugh in the endzone for the go-ahead touchdown.
Rowe broke down his performance, the final drive, his emotions and more after the game.
