CHANTILLY, Va. -- About 300 recruits trekked down to the NOVA Field House for the annual Top Dawg combine presented by Donnie Zimmerman's Playmaker Recruiting group. While most of the talent was likely at the Division I-AA level, there were a few intriguing prospects to keep an eye on during camp season. Here's what they had to say:

James Green, WR/CB, Forestville (Forestville, Md.) (2016): I had a big year last year as a sophomore. Playing corner I had four picks, as a slot receiver I had nine touchdowns and I returned two kicks for touchdowns as well. … Maryland and Tennessee have shown early interest. I've talked to Coach [Mike] Locksley before and he really likes me. He's great to talk to. He's been telling me he likes my game, keep working hard in the classroom, come out to games, come to practices, come to camps – all of that. I've known Coach Locks since I was a freshman. … I've taken visits to Maryland, West Virginia and Michigan. I'm going to Maryland's spring game April 11… I'm loving Maryland early. I love the program, how the coaches really help the players, and it's the neighborhood school. … Most schools want me as a cornerback.

Chase Brown, OG, Briar Woods (Ashburn, Va.): The biggest schools looking at me are Nebraska, Clemson, Rutgers and Maryland. I'd say RU would be closest to offering at this point, but I'm not sure about that yet…. I've been to Richmond's junior day, Norfolk State's junior day, and I went to Rutgers for a game last season… I'm going to Maryland's camp June 1, and that's the only one I know for sure at this point. I had a pretty good camp there last year and they liked me then, so I'm hoping to come out with an offer this time. The coach who liked me, though, Tom Brattan, he's not there anymore, so I'm not completely sure where I stand with them now. I haven't spoken to the new guy [Chad Wilt] yet… I hope Maryland does look at me. It's a real good school, it's not too far from home and they're playing in a great conference.

Contrelle Simpson, CB, Lackey (Indian Head, Md.): No offers yet, but there's a pretty good number of schools looking at me. Toledo, Old Dominion, UConn, Maryland, Temple, Towson and Stony Brook have all been sending me e-mails … I was at the [Maryland] scrimmage at North Point. It was real good. The DBs played real good, worked together and were impressive…Maryland is my favorite school; it's the hometown program and I love the uniforms. I'm a Maryland fan…. I've gotten e-mails from Maryland but I haven't talked to Coach [Mike] Locksley in person yet. I hope to hear more from him in the future though… I haven't taken any visits yet. I'll get to Maryland for a junior day. Then I'm supposed to be visiting UNC and Penn State too.

Marcus Bowman, OLB, Douglass (Upper Marlboro, Md.) (2017): I started all but two games last year as a freshman. That doesn't happen often at Douglass, but I worked real hard and Coach [JC] Pinkney put me on varsity and after two games I was in the starting lineup. I played mainly defensive end last year, but I'll be making the transition to outside linebacker this season…. It's early for me, but I get some letters from schools. Nothing too serious yet, though… I haven't taken any visits yet. I'll probably get over to Maryland because it's so close… I like the idea of playing at Maryland. It's just a few minutes away and my family could easily see me play there… No dream schools. I just want to have the chance to play football at the next level.

Donteiro Moore, LB, Westfield (Chantilly, Va.): I'm getting some interest from Temple, ODU and Boston College. ODU is definitely interested and I think they'll offer when I go down there next week. That will be my first visit… Maryland hasn't said anything to me yet, but I hope they do. I definitely like Maryland and think it's a great school, so I'd look at them pretty hard if they started recruiting me…. I'll get to camps at Ohio State, Boston College, Maryland, Virginia and hopefully Texas since that's my favorite school.

Cole McDonogh, DT, Bel Air (Bel Air, Md.): I'm mainly getting Ivy League and Patriot League interest, but I did talk to coach Andre Powell from Maryland. [Powell] said keep up the good work, keep up the grades, come out to a spring practice and come to a camp this summer. … I was at Maryland's camp last year and they saw me then, so I'm excited to get back… I haven't taken any visits yet, but I'm planning to see Maryland, Delaware, Towson and some other local schools coming up. I'll probably see a few Ivy League schools too like UPenn, Harvard and Dartmouth.

Will Hazelton, Slot/CB, C. Milton Wright (Forest Hill, Md.): No offers yet, but I have looks from Towson, Delaware, UCF, Stony Brook, Wake Forest and Maryland. … One of the Marylnd coaches came through the school awhile back and talked to my coach about me. It's not too serious yet, though. I'm going to a camp at Maryland, so hopefully [the staff] will talk to me more after that. It's a great school so I hope they look at me … I'm going to Stony Brook, Temple, Rutgers and Maryland for camps... I've visited Wake Forest and Delaware so far and hopefully I'll get to some more schools this summer… I'm being recruited as both a slot and as a cornerback.

Noah Boone, S, Landstown (Virginia Beach, Va.) (2016): I haven't heard from schools yet because last year when I was at an Old Dominion camp I got hit awkwardly and tore everything in my knee. My ACL, MCL, everything got torn and I missed all of last year and was in physical therapy. I just got back healthy and I'm looking to bounce back in a big way… I used to play quarterback, but now I'm a receiver and safety. I'll probably play defense in college … I haven't taken any visits yet, and I'm really not concerned with all that [recruiting] right now. My main goal is to work hard and get back and catch some eyes during the season. I know I can play at the DI level, so I've got to show it this year.

Aaron Dopson, DE, North Hagerstown (Hagerstown, Md.): No offers yet … Marshall is pretty interested. I'm going down there next weekend for a visit. They contacted me in the open period and they've stayed in touch on Twitter and Facebook. So I'm hoping something good happens when I go down there… Towson and Maryland have shown a little interest too. Maryland came to my school once or twice during the open period. They really haven't shown much interest yet, but I'd love the opportunity to play for my home state… I haven't taken any visits yet … I'm going to camps at Towson, Maryland and Marshall and maybe one or two others.

Christian Houston, CB, North Point (Waldorf, Md.): I've got mainly I-AA looks like ODU and JMU and just some interest from the [FCS] level. … I'll be going to Maryland's camp this summer, I've registered for that. But they aren't really recruiting me right now. I'm hoping to catch their eye at the camp…. I'd love to hear more from Maryland because it's the hometown school, they have good coaches and I think it's cool that they wear the same colors we do here at North Point. … I'm going to Princeton and Harvard junior days in addition to Maryland.
