Jersey CB Ali Is Maryland-Bound

ERIAL, N.J. -- Timber Creek cornerback Kareem Ali announced moments ago he committed to Maryland ahead of Pittsburgh and Louisville.

Maryland continued its reach in New Jersey as moments ago Timber Creek cornerback Kareem Ali announced he committed to the Terps.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Ali had Pittsburgh and Louisville as his other finalists, but Maryland has been his leader for a while.

""Maryland, I feel like it's stable, it's home," Ali told earlier this week.

Ali made the announcement in front of his teammates, family and the coaching staff at Timber Creek. He was coming off visits to each of his finalists in the last week, but he always held a special place for the Terps.

Ali spoke about his relationship with defensive coordinator Brian Stewart after his recent visit to campus.

"He's a father figure on the field and he definitely knows what he's talking about," Ali said. "His experience, I trust him. And coach (Randy) Edsall and experience working with defensive backs, I trust that, too. I trust their experience and I like how they treat me, like one of their sons."

Stay tuned to and for in-depth coverage from the announcement later today.
