Rich Rodriguez has never shied away from recruiting undersized football players. In fact, many of his best players are not the biggest guys around.
"A lot of people look at me and they think that since I'm a smaller guy I will go down on contact easy," Davis said. "That isn't the case.
"I take pride in my toughness and not letting the first tackler ever get me. I'm at 168 pounds right now and I'm looking to push that up as much as possible. I want it to be good weight though."
Davis is looking to take the next step in his recruitment and that includes some visits.
"I'm going to hopefully check out places in my region this summer," he said. "I would like to get to places like Maryland and UCF this month and then hopefully Ole Miss, Tennessee and Kentucky on unofficial visits."
Arizona has been recruiting Davis for quite some time, but probably won't receive an unofficial visit.
"I would like to get to Arizona, but I won't be able to get there on my own, so it would probably have to be an official visit," Davis said.
"That is certainly a possibility because Arizona was on me from the beginning and I have a good relationship with Coach Rod. We'll talk more and if I can get out there I will."
The coaching staff will likely have plenty of time to work.
"A decision is a long ways off for me," Davis said. "I want to find a place that appreciates my skills. I'm going to keep working and maybe more schools come into the picture."
