HYATTSVILLE, Md. -- Here is a breakdown of St. James (Md.) point guard and top Terps target Justin Robinson, who participated in the Victor Oladipo & Ty Lawson All-American Camp July 9-11.
Player: Justin Robinson
School St. James (Md.)
Athleticism: Average. Robinson's not a blur, not a big leaper, and has decent -- but not overwhelming -- quickness. He's sturdily built however, and functions well in traffic with the ball.
Shooting: Robinson will hit an occasional trey, has a solid mid-range jumper and exhibits good form. He's a good enough shooter to keep defenses honest.
Ball-handling: The lefty has a tight handle, reacts well to ball pressure and has shown to be reliable with the ball at crucial points in a game.
Passing: Perhaps the best part of his game as Robinson sees the floor very well.
Defense: Super-quick guards may pose a problem at times, but you could say that about most every guard. The effort is there at all times, however.
Rebounding: Again, he'll make the effort, but board work is not what you need from this crafty floor leader.
Intangibles: Justin Robinson scores off the charts in this category. He plays with intelligence, he plays under control, he understands his role and he's the consummate teammate. He won't be a player the head coach will have to worry about, on or off the court.
Summary: Robinson's one of those players who makes others better. He's unselfish, smart and defines the term "pure point guard." He won't ever be an ESPN highlight reel type player, but if you're Maryland, he's probably just what you need. "Solid" might be the best way to describe him, as a player and person.
Evaluation: Justin Robinson
