National Hoops Festival Eval: Corey Manigault

Here is an evaluation of power forward Corey Manigault from the National High School Hoops Festival at DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.)

Player: Corey Manigault
School: Paul VI (Fairfax, Va.)
Position: PF
Height: 6-8
Class: 2016

What you see is what you get with Manigault. He's a 6-8 low-post power player, who doesn't fancy himself as someone who will step out and want to shoot jump shots all day. His strong points are evident: Manigault has good feet, a solid set of hands, runs well and plays with aggression. He's going to do his best work 10 feet and in on the offensive end of the court. He'll score on tip ins, set picks, and pound the boards.

Against Oak Hill Academy, Manigault was pitted against 6-10 Daniel Giddens (Ohio State) and 7-0 Rodney Miller, another high-major prospect -- and let's just say he had his hands full.

But, as one would expect, he battled hard and held his own, though he didn't post big numbers. We're taking a wait-and-see approach with Manigault. His dad is 6-9, and his mom 6-3, so he could still grow, and should that happen he'll have plenty of suitors. He's not a flashy player, but a pretty productive one.

Manigault, a solid student, has been getting a lot of mid/high major offers lately, and the Terps are interested as well. I don't anticipate a hard push at the moment, but he certainly will continue to be monitored, as he's one of the better big kids in the area and has all the intangibles you look for.
