COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland players Dez Wells, Jake Layman and Melo Trimble addressed the media March 11 before the Terps' Big Ten tournament game against either Indiana or Northwestern March 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the United Center in Chicago. Wells said he hasn't done much reflecting on what this team has accomplished, although he acknowledged the program has taken a big step forward. He also said the Terps are relaxed, refreshed, poised, confident and eager to take the floor in Chicago. Layman commented on the time the Terps had off and said the team took some much needed rest these last couple days. He discussed the coaching job Mark Turgeon has done this year too. Layman said the Terps are relaxed and the pressure is off.
And Trimble said even though he's a freshman he's not feeling any added pressure heading into the postseason. The point guard discussed how UMD has been able to win close games this year, raising Maryland basketball to the level "it's supposed to be" at, as well as the importance of the frontcourt in the upcoming tournaments.
