PHILADELPHIA – Following its 15-14 overtime victory against fifth-seeded Brown in Saturday’s NCAA semifinals, the Maryland men’s lacrosse team advanced to Monday’s national championship game. The top-seeded Terrapins will take on North Carolina, which defeated Loyola (Md.), in the other national semifinal.
Maryland’s Colin Heacock and Dylan Maltz each produced hat tricks, including Heacock’s game-winning tally with 2:41 remaining in overtime. Matt Rambo scored a goal and added five assists, tallying the helper on Heacock’s game-winner. Goalie Kyle Bernlohr secured 11 saves in the cage. The Terrapins improved to 17-2 on the season and won their 16th consecutive game.
Monday’s NCAA final will get underway at 1 p.m. ET at Lincoln Financial Field, and air live on ESPN2. The Terrapins defeated North Carolina, 11-8, on March 26 in College Park, Md. Maryland’s women’s team will also take on North Carolina in the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse national championship game on Sunday.
