COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland safety Darnell Savage sat down with the media Oct. 12. His quotes are below, and a video can be viewed above:
On His Job As Strong Safety
My job is to be in the box and stop the run. I trust all our guys up front, and I just try to do my job.
On Playing Alongside Josh Woods
I wouldn’t say there’s much of a difference. We’re all ready to go like anyone at any given time. There’s really no difference. We’re all communicating and doing our jobs.
On Minnesota Runners
They have some good backs, skill guys that can make plays. We just have to be focused on our eye discipline and make tackles.
On Minnesota’s Backup QB
He’s been there, he knows the offense. We’re preparing for him as we would for anybody. We’re not taking him lightly. We’re going to be ready to go.
On DBs Blitzing
I think anyone gets excited going on a blitz. It’s just the mentality. It’s a chance to make a huge play.
On Mentality After A Loss Last Year Compared to This Year
That was a long time ago (laughs). We’re not freaking out or anything. We’re not stressing out or anything. … No body really had to say anything after the [Penn State] game. We’re all on the same page. We just play. We’re just loose. We don’t want to be all up tight; we go out and have fun.
On Adjustments After PSU Loss
We’re not changing or freaking out or anything. We’re just playing our game.
