Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon has handed out several new offers in the wake of the two April live evaluation sessions, and May 7 he gave a new verbal after hosting a rising star who resides almost in the Terps' backyard. Armando Bacot (Trinity Episcopal/Richmond, Va.) is a 6-foot-9, 225-pound 2019 stretch-4 power forward who has been picking up offers almost daily and is up to 25-plus.

"I thought the Maryland visit was great. That was my first time being there and I had a good time," said Bacot, who now claims looks from UMD, Baylor, Cal, Georgetown, Clemson, Iowa, Kansas, Miami, NC State, Penn State, Nova, Stanford, USC, UVA, Va Tech, Wake and a host of others. "The best part was definitely talking to Coach Turgeon and sitting down with him one-on-one. He seems like a really good guy and a great coach."

At the end of their conversation, Bacot received the Maryland offer, which is his latest to date.

"Coach Turgeon said he really liked my game and was impressed with me when he saw me [on the Adidas Gauntlet for Team Loaded VA]," Bacot said. "He said I'm the type of player he wants in his program, which meant a lot to me. And I think the Maryland program is on the rise under him. He's done a good job developing some bigs in the past, so I'm interested."

While on campus, Bacot had a chance to check out the Xfinity Center and the athletic facilities. He also saw the campus and the surrounding area, offering up positive comments for each. The four-star forward spoke to his two recruiters, Kevin Broadus and Dustin Clark, as well.

"Coach Broadus I've known for awhile, from when he was at Georgetown. He's a good guy and I like him," Bacot said. "Same with Coach Clark. I'm getting to know him and I enjoyed talking to him [May 7]."

Bacot should be back in College Park, Md., at some point, perhaps for a game. He'd previously taken in Penn State, Va Tech, VCU, Duke, UNC and UVA. He's unsure where he's headed next, but would like to see some of the programs that have offered him like Nova, Wake, Georgetown and others.

"But no leaders or anything like that. No dream schools," said Bacot, who is receiving interest from both UNC and Duke. "Just looking for a good school, a good program and good coaches."

Bacot, who grew up in the Richmond area, led his team to a 35-1 record and a state tile last year. His Team Loaded AAU squad is 8-0, with Bacot averaging 15 points on 54.5 percent shooting (40 percent from range), 11 rebounds, two blocks and an assist.
