Philly Athlete Getting Big Time Interest

Not too often does a player have the size and speed combination to be seen as a linebacker and a wide receiver, but one such player is getting major interest for being that interesting hybrid.

Steve Quinn from St. Joseph's Prep in Philadelphia is 6'3" and 215 pounds, runs a 4.62 in the 40, and has a 32" vertical jump.

"He is an excellent athlete," says St. Joseph's coach Gil Brooks.   "He is big and he can run.   Plus as a receiver, he has great hands."

Brooks says that Michigan, Penn State, and Virginia came to talk to Quinn immediately during the last recruiting period and Quinn says he has heard mostly from those three, plus Maryland and Ohio State.

As for what position he is being recruited for, both Brooks and Quinn say it depends on whom you ask.

"Some see him as a wide receiver and some see him as a linebacker," says Brooks.   "I guess it depends on what they need."

"I am not sure what everybody wants me as," says Quinn.   "But Michigan did say they saw me as a linebacker."

Quinn says it's too early for favorites, though he is thinking of camping at   Maryland and wants to camp at Temple since it's in the city.

As for a decision, Quinn, who has a 2.8 GPA, would prefer to wait until after the season.
