Terps Slide Down Chalmers' List

Maryland was, at one time, high on Mario Chalmers' list. Now the Terps have fallen down a bit as the Alaska junior point guard is set to take his first official visit.

Mario Chalmers used to have Maryland among his leaders. Now the Terps are no longer among his top six schools.

The 6-2, 175-pound Bartlett High (Alaska) floor leader, one of the most coveted point guards in the Class of 2005, will take his first official visit this weekend to Arizona.

The other schools who comprise his elite half-dozen include Marquette, Wake Forest, Kansas, UCLA and North Carolina, the only school yet to put forth a scholarship offer out of the top six.

``Their program just hasn't been as good as usual," Chalmers said of the Terps. "They used to win a lot more. Their on a little bit of a downswing, but I'm still considering them."

However, it appears that the odds are stacked against Gary Williams and the staff, especially considering the Tar Heels, Chalmers' dream school of sorts, have stepped up their efforts lately.
