Charm City Features Dunk Contest, 3-pt Challenge;

Baltimore (March 12) -- Charlie Weber Basketball, in association with Corrigan Sports Enterprises, announces the Charm City Challenge Dunk Contest and 3-Point Challenge as part of the festivities surrounding the tournament. The Dunk Contest and 3-Point Challenge will take place on Saturday, March 23 at 8 PM at Lake Clifton High School. Portion of the proceeds will be returned to Lake Clifton. Tickets are available at the door only.

The Dunk Contest and 3-Point Challenge lead-up to the Charm City Challenge on Monday, March 25th. The Challenge consists of two games beginning at 6:30 PM at the Towson Center on the campus of Towson University.

The preliminary game features Suburban All-Stars, coached by Mike Glick (Archbishop Spalding) against City All-Stars coached by Daryl Wade (Mervo High School). The nightcap features U.S. All-Stars taking on Herman Harried's (Lake Clifton High School) Baltimore All-Stars.

Coaching the U.S All-Star team is Louis Wilson, head coach at Riverdale Baptist in Upper Marlboro, Md. Wilson began his collegiate career playing for Howard University and later served as assistant coach for two years at his alma mater. His debut coaching job was at Frederick Douglass High School, where he directed the team to a county championship and the school's first state championship game in 1986. He then coached at Largo High School for 12 seasons and won the state championship in 1993. Wilson completed his second season at Riverdale this year.

Playing on the U.S. All-Star teams will be John Gilchrist, Chris McCray and Nik Caner-Medley, all committed to play at the University of Maryland. Lee Melchionni (Duke), Theodis Tarver (Georgia Tech) and Eric Hicks (Cincinnati), are among the players making up the U.S. Team.

The Baltimore All-Stars will feature Gary Neal (LaSalle), Todd Galloway (Florida State), Deavon Haskins (Rutgers), Kevin Steenberge (Richmond), Jazwyn Cowan (McDonogh HS) and Darnell Hopkins (Towson Catholic), to name a few.
