New Jersey Running Back Loves Maryland

The Terps have no lack of options at the running back position this year, many of them coming from the Northeast. Terp Sports Report caught up with one such player, Kenneth Howard of The Hun School in Princeton, N.J., for the latest in his recruitment and his thoughts on the Terps.

"I love Maryland. I have a great relationship with coach John Donovan, I really like the coaching staff and the campus," said Howard, a 6-foot-2, 208-pounder who holds offers from N.C. State, Akron, Marshall and Cincinnati. "They run a power running game and I'm a power runner."v
Howard, who rushed for more then 1,000 yards along with 14 touchdowns as a junior, runs the 40 in 4.53 seconds and prides himself on his blocking ability. He sees himself somewhere in the 215-pound range as a college running back. He's been keeping in touch with Donovan, and has built a good relationship with running backs coach Phil Zaccarias.

Howard has been to Maryland on several occasions, including the spring game and summer camp. The assistant coaches have told him they like him a lot but will wait to offer until they see what happens with some of their other running back targets. That doesn't bother Howard.

"I'm going to wait and see what happens. I'm going to hold out for a while," said Howard, who also feels he's close to getting offers from North Carolina and Wake Forest, the latter of which he visited last weekend.

"I've always liked Maryland a lot," he said, adding that if the Terps offer, "it will be one of my top schools."
