TurtleSportsReport Exclusive: Big Hoops News!

There's some big news brewing for Maryland's basketball program, and TurtleSportsReport.com has the exclusive. Read on for the breaking news...

Through multiple sources close to the situation, TSR has confirmed that 6-foot-9, 200-pound power forward Ater Majok announced his intentions to become a Maryland Terrapin this weekend while on anm official visit. We expect an announcement will come within the next week or two, but according to several sources with knowledge of Majok's recruitment, he has made it clear he will be signing with Maryland during the early signing period, which begins Nov. 14.

Majok, a native of the Sudan who attends American International School in Carlington, Australia, would appear to represent a major addition for Maryland. He's said to run the floor extremely well and possess polished post moves. He's also said to be a major shot-blocking and dunking presence, and he has a 7 foot 3 inch wingspan. He has been touted as having NBA lottery pick potential.

Majok originally committed to Baylor, but opted to re-open his recruitment, and was being recruited by Pitt, Kentucky and Cal, among several others. It appears he will put the finishing touches on his recruitment in the near future and announce his decision to accept a scholarship offer from Maryland. He will not be listed in Scout's database as a commitment until such an announcement is made.

Majok seemingly will be the second player in Maryland's 2008 class, joining highly regarded Baltimore shooting guard Sean Mosley.
