TSR Update: Pete White Setting Up Visits

There been little info to be had on the recruitment of St. John's (D.C) blue-chip offensive lineman Pete White. White, who the Maryland staff has been recruiting since the early stages of his high school career, isn't big on talking on the phone or dissecting the process publicly. But St. John's coach Joe Patterson was happy to fill in TSR with the latest on the four-star prospect.

Patterson told us that White will take three official visits – next weekend during a St. John's off week, and later in the season when the Cadets play a couple of Friday games. Those visits appear to be reserved for Maryland, Tennessee and Florida, he said, while White will likely take two post-season visits to schools currently undecided.

White, a 6-foot-5, 336-pound senior ranked the No. 4 offensive guard in the nation by Scout.com, is looking for a mix of strong football and excellent academics, Patterson said.

I thikn all of the schools he's still considering have those qualities," Patterson said. "I think they've [the Terps] got a good shot. I think they've got a good shot. All of the schools he's considering at this point have a lot to offer. They're great institutions, so it's hard to decide."

White has cut some weight since last season and came back to school more agile than ever before. He's being recruited by some schools at tackle and by others, including Maryland, as a guard.

"In our first game, our best play was him pulling around the end," Patterson said.

It seems White still doesn't have a strong favorite among the schools he's focusing on, but Maryland remains very much in the mix with the highly sought lineman.
