Interview with CB Louis Young

Louis Young, 5'11" 177 pounds from Good Counsel High School recently reopened his recruiting process after initially verbally committing to Stanford

Turtle Sports Report recently caught up with Good Counsel (MD) cornerback Louis Young.  Young had initially committed to Stanford, but recently reopened his recruiting.   He is currently playing on the Good Counsel basketball team, but recently attended Junior Day at College Park.

How is the recruiting process going so far?

Pretty good so far.  I am currently playing basketball right now so I am letting it play itself out.   I recently went to Junior Day at Maryland.  After the basketball season, my family and I will sit down and make a list of camps and combines that I will go to.

What led you to open up your recruiting process again?

Well initially it was not a decision that I made.  When I received the offer from Stanford, my family got excited with both the academic and athletic tradition that they have.  In the end, I have to find a school that I feel comfortable at. I want to visit all of the other schools that have been recruiting me and not put all of my eggs in one basket.

What schools have you received offers from?

Maryland, Stanford, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Boston College and Kansas State.

Do you play to commit before your senior season begins or let the process play itself out?

Ideally, I would like to work hard to get it done before the first game of the season.  I probably won't do it over the summer because I want to get out and see a lot of schools.  But I want to do it in the fall.

Are there any early leaders on your list?

I would say maybe Maryland, Wake Forest and Virginia Tech.  I like Kansas State and have talked to Coach Cosh a lot.  I like Pittsburgh and Uconn as well.  I am a mama's boy so I want to stay somewhat close to home.

How did Junior Day go at College Park?

It was really cool.  I got to build a relationship with the defensive coordinator (Coach Brown), Coach Lempa (safties coach), Coach Franklin and Coach Friedgen.  They really made me feel at home.  I have seen a lot of the coaches before, when they would come to see Caleb (Porzel, Terps 2009 commit).

What type of stats did you have this season?

On defense I had 34 tackles, 5 interceptions, 1 return for a touchdown, 2 sacks and 3 tackles for a loss. ON offense I had 18 catches for 400 yards and 4 touchdowns.

For fans who have never seen you play, what can you tell them about Louis Young the football player?

I go hard every chance I have.  I leave nothing on the field.  My dad always told me to give it 100%.

Turtle Sports Report thanks Louis for taking the time to speak with us and we look forward to continue speaking with him in the future.
