TSR Interviews Terps commit James Padgett

TSR's Brian Kapur caught up with Maryland commit James Padgett last night at the Capital Classic

When James Padgett was called during the starting lineups, he received the biggest ovation of any all-star at the Capital Classic.

A survey of the fans in attendance at American University revealed plenty of Terrapin red and black, a clear indication that the Terrapin faithful had come out to take a look at their future big man.

Padgett embraced the warm welcome, "It was great! We have a lot of supportive fans, it was great seeing them come out to show support," Padgett said.

The Terps' big recruit had a quiet night, finishing with just four points, but he showed he could provide strength on the boards, finishing with seven rebounds, something the Terps sorely lacked last season.

Grevis Vasquez was also in attendance to take a look at his new teammate.

"It's a great feeling to be a Terp, the fans are great and I am looking forward to playing for them," Padgett said.

Padgett followed the Terps' NCAA run and knows he will be expected to perform early. But it's a role he embraces, "Hopefully, I am expecting to play early, me and Jimmy Williams , but we also have to develop our games a little bit all around basically," Padgett said.

If Thursday night is any indication, the Terps' have some muscle on the way.
