Interview with 2010 TE/DE Zack McCray

TSR's Maddie McConnell interviews 2010 prospect Zack McCray about the recruiting process

Have you had a chance to make it out to College Park for spring practice?

I haven't got out there in the spring, I came out maybe a month and a half ago. I came out and visited all of the coaches and everybody. They had just started weightlifting for the spring. I loved it, it was pretty fun up there, I was going to try and make it out for the spring game, [but] I've got to wait to get back in touch with Coach Seamonson, so I can get back up there.

So, no visit to the spring game or getting out to the last few spring practices?

Not right now. Next week I've got prom and next week after that we've got a football banquet.

What other schools are showing interest in you?

LSU, Tennessee, I'm starting to hear a bunch of stuff from Florida State. Clemson said they're probably going to offer within the next week.

How does Maryland rank on your list?

Maryland is right there in the middle of it. I came up and enjoyed the visit last time so I still have to get out to a bunch of schools and see what they're all about.

What kind of defense do you see yourself being an impact in?

Somewhere that runs a 4-3 defense where I can be used as a defensive end/linebacker where I can drop back into coverage and get my hand in the dirt and play.

What do you bring to Maryland football?

Pass rushing aspect of the game. Getting off of the end quick and also being able to drop back and play linebacker.

What have you been working on in the off-season?

I'm doing track trying to work on my speed. I also gained weight in the football season I was 225 and right now I'm somewhere between 235-240.

Any other combines or workouts you plan on attending in the upcoming weeks?

I'm not 100% sure right now.

TSR thanks Zack McCray for taking the time to speak with us and we look forward to continuing to follow him during the recruiting process.
