Defensive back Cullen Christian (Pittsburgh, PA) is a Scout.com four-star recruit as well as the number three defensive back in the 2010 class.
Christian is coming off being named MVP at the recent Nike camp and is talking to TSR about his recruiting and his interest in Maryland. He has been to a couple camps this offseason and plans on attending several more before summer is over.
Now that spring is turning into summer, he is working on improving his speed. "It's been going real good, [and] everything's improving," Christian said. "It's been going real good since it's been getting hot outside, [and I'm] getting fast and everything."
Christian said some things about the University of Maryland after mentioning that he has been on a visit to the College Park campus. "I liked it," he said. "I mean, I think it was the best campus I've seen. I liked that a lot."
Christian mentioned a few other schools in addition to Maryland. He is interested in Michigan, West Virginia, UCLA, Maryland, and Pitt. He is looking for a pro-style football program, and as he says, "someone to get me ready."
Christian likes to hit – he plays physically and is not afraid of contact. "They (Maryland) do a lot of everything," he added.
When I went up there, I learned a lot, the coach (defensive backs coach Don Brown) showed me some stuff," Christian said. "So he taught me a couple things; he was talking to me about football."
"A lot of people come up to me and talk about their school and stuff," the corner added, "but the DB coach talked to me about football."
Christian finished his Junior season with 35 tackles, two interceptions and one forced fumble.
