Where Are They Now: Parrish Brown

TSR catches up with Terps basketball alum Parrish Brown

Parrish Brown, a former Maryland Terrapin guard in the 2005-06 season, has been playing in basketball leagues overseas since graduating.

"My experience overseas has been fun," Brown said. "Being in another country makes you appreciate your own country a lot."

Brown has been playing well too. "Last year in Germany in Regionalliga League… I averaged 28 points, four assists and five rebounds," he mentioned. "Also, I made the Regionalliga First Team and was the second leading scorer of the league."

This year Brown played in Mexico in the LNBP, which is the top league in Mexico, while averaging 23 points, three assists, and four rebounds.

Brown says the overseas game is pretty similar to the American game. "The game is still competitive; guys still play every play like it's their last," he said. "Every team wants to win [and] I can't forget about how crazy the fans are, just like in the US."

Brown misses his college days and stays in contact with the coaches and the players. "As far as the coaching staff, last season I was in more contact with them but this season I really haven't been in much contact with them," he said.

"I still keep in contact with my former teammates," Brown added. "We talk during our seasons about how we are doing and usually try to meet up during the summer to hang out."

Brown added a specific memory from college. "My best memory in college would have to be our trip to Maui to play in the Maui Invitational. We had a good time in Maui even though we didn't win the tournament," he said. "[But] I miss… hanging out with the team laughing and joking before and after practice."
