Top Linebacker Wesley Jefferson Commits

Gwynn Park senior linebacker Wesley Jefferson has apparently chose the Maryland Terrapins. Jefferson was chosen as the All-Met Defensive Player of the Year with 144 tackles (88 unassisted) along with 10 sacks, 7 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries and an interception for Gwynn Park, just outside Washington, DC.

According to the Washington Post, Jefferson said last night that he will orally commit today to play for Maryland. The 6-foot-2, 239-pound Jefferson chose the Terrapins over Miami and Ohio State after he visited all three schools. Other schools that offered Jefferson was Notre Dame and Penn State but according to published reports he had absolutly no interest in any schools outside of Maryland, Miami and Ohio State.

Jefferson helped lead his school Gwynn Park to its first undefeated regular season before a loss in the Maryland 3A quarterfinals.
