Ninth meeting between these teams

This will be the ninth meeting in a series that dates back to 1920. The series took a break from 1942 until 2007. The Terps are 2-0 in games that have been played in the state of Maryland. The Terps won the last meeting 34-24 in 2007. This will be the first time that Rutgers has come to College Park to play.

Terps at home

In the last ten years, the Terps are 47-18 at home. That is a .723 winning percentage. Over the last five years the Terps are 20-11 at home. Terps have won eight of 10 home games since 2007

Going out of conference

In head coach Ralph Fridgen's tenure, the Terps are 23-9 in non conference games 19-3 at home.

A handful of true freshman have already seen time on the field early this season. LB Darin Drakeford, PK Nick Ferrara, OL Bennett Fulper, and DL Zachariah Kerr. All of these appearances came in the season opener against Cal. WR Kerry Boykins, RB Gary Douglas, WR Kevin Dorsey, DL Masengo Kabongo, LB Demetrius Hartsfield, OL Justin Gilbert, OL R.J. Dill, OL Justin Lewis, DL A.J. Francis and DL Carl Russell all redshirt freshman saw playing time against Cal as well. True freshman Bennett Fulper earned his first career start agaisnt James Madison. True freshman DL Isaiah Ross also made his first appearance vs JMU and true freshman linebacker Avery Murray saw time on special teams against MTSU.

Special Teams Streak

Maryland has not had a punt blocked for 114 games. That is currently the longest streak in the country

Seven Maryland natives listed on the Rutgers roster

Seven players on the Rutgers roster reside in Maryland. Of those seven, the two that are getting the most playing time are Jourdan Brooks and Joe Lefeged. Brooks is a running back and Lefeged is a defensive back . On the season, Brooks has rushed 25 times for 157 yards and three touchdowns. Lefeged has a kick return for 30 yards, nine solo tackles, 9 assists and one tackle for loss.

Nine players on Maryland roster call New Jersey home

Nine players on the University of Maryland's roster are from New Jersey. RB Dan Bonato, OL Phil Costa, TE Matt Furstenburg, WR Tony Logan, DB Antwine Perez, LB Ben Pooler, DB Mike Salvatico and LB Alex Wujciak.

Rutgers coach has Maryland ties

Rutgers' running backs coach Randy Trivers is a native of Silver Spring, MD. Trivers started his coaching career as head coach of Northwest High School in Germantown, MD. In 2004 he led Northwest to the 3A state championship and was named Maryland Associated Press Coach of the Year.

ACC struggles

Rutgers is 20-56-1 all time against the ACC. They have had the most success going against UNC (3-1). They are winless against Miami (0-11 and Wake Forest (0-2).

Freshmen making a huge impact for Scarlet Knights

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights are receiving a huge impact from two true freshmen. Quarterback Tom Savage took over midway through the Scarlet Knights first game of the season and is 34 for 64 for 543 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. His favorite target this season has been fellow freshman and wide receiver Mohamed Sanu who has 15 receptions for 158 yards.
