Garcia Talks Visit

TSR's Matt Birchenough talks to 2010 prospect Max Garica about his recent visit to the Maryland.

“I enjoyed it a lot,” said Max Garcia about his visit to Maryland on Oct. 3. “It has a great game day atmosphere. It was a huge ACC win. I had a good time.”

The 3-star offensive lineman has narrowed his choices to Vanderbilt, Clemson, and Maryland. He had already visited Vanderbilt and Clemson.

Garcia saw the Terps beat Clemson 24-21. It was not a perfect game for the Terps, but Garcia was impressed that they found a way to win. “Whatever you have to do to get the job done,” he said.

Following the game, Garcia had the chance to talk to the coaching staff, who have stressed that he'll have a chance to fight for a role early if he chooses the Terps.

“I talked to Coach [Tom] Brattan, Coach [James] Franklin, and Coach [Ralph] Friedgen,” said Garcia. “They told me I'll have a chance to go in there and compete. But I'll have to work at it.”

Garcia also had the chance to meet another Maryland recruit at the game.

“I was with Devin Burns, who committed to Maryland. We got to talk, and we had a good time.”

While on campus, Garcia took the time to focus on the academic opportunities that Maryland offers.

“I took a tour of almost the whole campus,” Garcia said. “I went to the journalism building. I got to meet the dean of journalism. I got to see the broadcast studio.”

The Norcross High School (Ga.) product has expressed interest in studying broadcast journalism at the school he will attend.
