After visiting Syracuse University this past weekend, Tobias Harris is still undecided about where he will attend school next fall. The 6-foot 8-inch forward is considering Syracuse, Tennessee, West Virginia, Georgia Tech, Louisville, and Maryland. Harris, a five-star recruit according to Scout.com, is taking his time. I want to visit each school before choosing where I want to attend next year, says Harris.
Harris is interested in the academic quality of schools, their location, and their fan base. I've liked pretty much everything about each school I've visited so far, Harris says. It's a big decision so I want to see everything the school has to offer before deciding.
As the second-best forward in the Class of 2010 according to Scout.com, Harris has the potential to make a huge impact for a school next fall. Most coaches have told him that he will play small forward at the next level and he seems committed to playing this position. I want to work on getting my shot consistent and my perimeter defense, he says, since I will be playing further away from the basket in college.
Harris recently got back from an official visit to Tennessee where he watched the Volunteers football team defeat the Georgia Bulldogs. He told Scout.com's James Bryant that he, was impressed with the entire trip. Harris plans on making a decision in November and will take trips to Kentucky, Louisville, Georgia Tech and West Virginia. The Terps appear to be the odd man out for Harris' official visits but TSR will continue to update the situation.
Once Harris chooses a school, he could pay immediate dividends. His versatility and work ethic are important intangibles that will benefit any team in the future. For now though, Harris is focusing on making the best decision he can.
