2011 Prospect Hubert Talks About Visit

2011 hoops prospect Desmond Hubert talks about his recent visit to Maryland.

New Egypt High School junior Desmond Hubert is only in the early stages of recruiting, but he recently took the opportunity to visit Maryland. Hubert enjoyed his experience at the Terps' 24-21 victory over Clemson on Oct. 3.

“It was a nice day out. They came back to beat Clemson. It was a pretty fun game,” said the 6-foot-8-inch, 190-pound power forward.

Hubert was also impressed with the atmosphere at the game.

“It was pretty wild when they started coming back,” he said.

Hubert said he did not get to see a lot of the campus, but he did like the little that he saw. He said that a school's campus is just one of the things he would take into account before making a decision.

“I definitely want a school where I'm going to fit in with everything. The campus, teachers, the players that are going to be there, the other students that are going to be there, the coaches. Everything,” said the class of 2011 prospect.

He has been in touch with the Maryland coaching staff, namely Assistant Coach Rob Ehsan.

“[We talk about] how I'd fit in at Maryland and how much they want me to come there,” Hubert said. He also said Ehsan has mentioned what he likes about his game. “He talks about the defensive end, as a shot-blocker.”

Hubert agrees with Coach Ehsan and knows his strength. “Definitely my defense. Blocking shots, getting on the floor,” he said. Hubert still sees some things he wants to improve. “Definitely my offense and getting stronger and putting weight on.”

Hubert holds offers from several schools, including Villanova, Pittsburgh, Xavier, Miami, Cincinnati, and Maryland. He does not have a leader at this point.
