Cyrus Kouandjio Focused on the Season

2011 prospect Cyrus Kouandjio is focused on the season but still is enjoying recruiting.

With the final weeks of football season approaching, Cyrus Kouandjio is mindful of the task at hand. He isn't as concerned with his recruitment as he is focused on his junior season at DeMatha Catholic High School (Hyattsville, MD).

As far as the recruiting process goes, the 6'6, 295 lb. lineman is still at the early stages of choosing the right school.

“I haven't looked into schools hard enough to start distinguishing which ones are my top and which ones are not…I don't have a top right now, I'm keeping my focus on the season,” Cyrus commented.

Although he hasn't looked hard into many schools yet, Cyrus knows just what he is doing thanks to some family assistance. His older brother and teammate, Arie, is nearing the end of his recruiting process and has given Cyrus some advice.

“[Arie] gives me tips on how to stay focused and how to take this recruiting process well,” said Cyrus regarding his older brother.

To go along with advice from his brother, Cyrus accompanied Arie on visits to schools such as Maryland, Penn State, West Virginia, and Iowa last summer. Having a sibling one year ahead of the same recruiting process is a huge advantage for any recruit, and Cyrus is taking advantage of it.

But as for right now, the 4-star lineman has his mind on his high school season. Cyrus Kouandjio and the DeMatha Stags boast a perfect 7-0 record that has helped them become nationally ranked among high schools.
