One of the biggest criticisms of the Ralph Friedgen era during his tenure at Maryland is his struggle to keep recruits from the Maryland and Washington D.C. areas nearby for college. However, the Terps would love to land Attaochu, who could potentially add to their pass rush on defense. The Terps plan to use Attaochu as a defensive end should he sign up to play in College Park.
Attaochu has already visited Maryland and Virginia unofficially and plans on taking some official visits in December and January. During his visit to Maryland, Attaochu seemed pretty impressed with the school.
It's really close to home and my parents like it, said Attaochu. I really like Coach Franklin (his recruiting coach). He's pretty cool.
Attaochu still wants to analyze more of his options before narrowing down his college list for the last time. He seems to have a pretty good idea of what he is looking for in a school and taking some official visits will help him taper his list even more.
The environment, feel, and vibe of a school is very important to me, Attaochu said. I'm also interested in my position coach. My position coach and the way he teaches is more important to me than the head coach.
