Bello Has Long List of Options

2011 basketball prospect Deuce Bello (NC) is a prospect that the Terps are watching very closely.

Westchester Academy (High Point, NC) guard/forward Deuce Bello is one of the most highly regarded recruits in the Class of 2011. Bello has received interest from Wake Forest, Baylor, Virginia Tech, Kentucky, Maryland, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, Cleveland State, NC State, Kansas, Clemson, Miami, and Duke. Of those schools, Bello currently has offers from Wake Forest, Maryland, Clemson, Miami, and Baylor.

Bello has a lot of work cut out for him to narrow down his list of schools. He has visited Tennessee, Wake Forest, NC State, and Virginia Tech so far, but Bello plans on traveling to other schools in the future.

“I think I'm going to go on some more visits soon,” Bello said. “My mentor, head coach, and I haven't decided where we are going yet. We are just focusing on the high school season.”

With an offer already on the table from the Terps, one of the schools Bello will likely visit is Maryland. Although he has not yet been to College Park, dialogue between the Maryland coaching staff and Bello has gone well. In addition, Bello seems to be impressed with the program head coach Gary Williams has in place.

“I talked to Coach Rob (Robert Ehsan) and they have good tradition. Coach Williams loves to win and push his players. I also really like the atmosphere there,” said Bello. “And of course, what I'm looking for in a college is education. And they would give me a good one. I was hoping I could go on a visit soon. I talked to Coach Rob about that and he said they wanted me down there at Maryland.”

In my opinion, the Terps offer Bello a lot. The University offers a great education, something that is obviously very important to Bello. The Terps also have a very good coaching staff that has made Bello excited about the school. With a visit to Maryland likely sometime in the near future, Gary Williams and the Terps have a golden opportunity to make a strong impression in Bello's large pool of potential suitors.
